Obama: Born Again? Evangelical?

Cathleen Falsani is the religion reporter for the Chicago Sun Times - and probably the best at what she does within the mainstream media. She has talked with Senator Barack Obama a couple of times about his faith and her insight is helpful. Or at least as helpful as it can be. Check out her story, "Evangelical? Obama's faith too complex for simple label."

I don't think President Obama is "born-again" or "saved" (basically the same thing); not just from this article, but from others, he seems to struggle with the term "born-again", and he’s not sure where he stands on abortion. I do believe that he is as "Christian" as many other church-goers are, and he's definitely not Muslim or atheist. As a Southern Baptist, I know how holier-than-thou other Southern Baptists (and I guess evangelicals in general) can be, but we all need to give him a break. God isn’t limited to just born-again people for use in carrying out His will, and I think that Obama is sitting on the verge of being saved, and may become so some day. In the meantime, I think he’s an honest guy with good intentions.
