Sweet! A Congressional hearing to check out financial practices of televangelists! It's like a dream come true! Even though I don't expect anyone will really get their feet held to the fire, it still could be fun to watch 'em squirm.
Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa is "following up on complaints from the public and news coverage regarding certain practices at six ministries." In a statement today Grassley said, "The allegations involve governing boards that aren't independent and allow generous salaries and housing allowances and amenities such as private jets and Rolls Royces."
Yeah, I'm shocked.
According to this article on Beliefnet, "The letters were sent to Randy and Paula White of Tampa, Fla.; Benny Hinn Ministries in Grapevine, Texas; Joyce Meyer Ministries in Fenton, Mo.; Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga.; Creflo Dollar Ministries in College Park, Ga.; and Kenneth Copeland Ministries of Newark, Texas."
How the Crouch family and the Trinity Broadcast Network didn't make the cut, I don't know . . .
